Welcome

Thank you for visiting this web site, and for your interest in the up-coming election in Minnesota's 9th Judicial District – your court.

Since I was first elected in 1992 and then re-elected in 1998 and 2004, I have had the honor and great privilege of serving as one of your District Court Judges. This year I am seeking re-election to the district court bench, and respectfully ask for your continued support for another six- year term.

When I was sworn in as judge, I made a promise that I would treat each and every person appearing before me with dignity and respect. I strive every day to make good on that promise. I am committed to the rule of law and accept the principle that as a judge it is my duty to apply the law as it is written, even if I disagree with it. The only promise I can make is that I will work hard in hopes that every person that leaves my courtroom will feel that they truly had their day in court, that they were listened to, and that they were treated fairly.

Working as a judge is a form of public service, and I firmly believe that the public has the right to insist that judges have a strong work ethic and a commitment to the job. I take my responsibilities as a judge very seriously, and I have always worked very hard. In addition to my court duties, I have been actively engaged in many efforts to improve our judicial system and make it more user friendly. Since 2007, I have also written a monthly newspaper column to share information about the courts with readers. I truly believe the courts belong to the people, and in serving the people as a district court judge, I strive to give you my very best.

As your judge, I have never taken for granted nor taken lightly the support and trust of the people I serve. I would be honored to continue as your district court judge, and I would appreciate your vote this November 2nd.
